About

I'm Ico, a Brazilian artist living in Ericeira, Portugal.

I started in graffiti in 2006 and never really left the wall. Since then the work has moved onto anything with a surface · façades, shutters, surfboards, packaging, textile, canvas. For the last twenty years I've also been drawing for brands: apparel graphics, labels, characters, things that end up printed and worn rather than hung.

The work lives between two things. Geometry on one side · mandalas, flower of life, pattern that repeats until it becomes texture. Nature on the other · flora, fauna, the ocean, the blue of Portuguese tile. I like it most when the two meet on the same surface.

I trained as a product designer, and it shows. I think about where a piece will live before I think about what it looks like. A wall in a café is not a wall in a bedroom. A board that gets surfed is not a board that hangs.
